What is VLT? |
VLT (visible light transmission) expresses the amount of sunlight a lens allows to pass through, expressed as percentage. On bright sunny days, you need lenses with low VLT to protect you from being blinded and reduce eye fatigue. Lenses with low VLT usually have darker tint to keep more light out and are often equipped with mirrored coating which makes it easier to see the contours and the bumps on the slope when travelling at speed. On snowy and foggy days, when the light conditions are low, lenses which allow higher VLT perform better. |
What are S3/S2/S1 lens categories? | |||
S3 - Sunny weather Next to blocking 100% of the harmful UV rays, high tint offers maximum glare protection. Allows you to see comfortably when the weather is very good. |
|||
S2 - Clouds Most commonly purchased type of lens, capable of dealing with varying light conditions. Provides perfect vision in both sunny and cloudy weather, perform beautifully when afternoon shadows start to creep onto the slope. |
|||
S1 - Snow & fog Provides crystal clear view when the visibility on the slope is poor. You want to be equipped with high-VLT lenses when when snow falls heavily or when you find yourself riding past the sunset. |
